SDG 5 is dedicated to achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls. It seeks to eliminate discrimination, violence, and unequal opportunities based on gender. The goal emphasizes the importance of creating an inclusive and gender-responsive environment, ensuring equal access to education, healthcare, and participation in decision-making processes.

  • Eliminate violence in public and private spheres, including trafficking and exploitation of women and girls.
  • Eradicate harmful practices like child marriage and female genital mutilation.
  • Recognize and value unpaid care and domestic work through public services, infrastructure, and social protection policies, promoting shared responsibility within households.
  • Ensure women’s full participation and equal leadership opportunities in political, economic, and public decision-making.
  • Guarantee universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, aligned with international agreements.
  • Reform to grant women equal economic rights, ownership of resources, land, and financial services, following national laws.
  • Promote the use of enabling technology, especially information and communications technology, to empower women.
  • Adopt and strengthen policies and legislation to promote gender equality and empower women at all levels.
